Understanding price charts and market data is essential for successful trading. This guide explains how to read Quenta's charts and interpret market statistics.

Price Charts

Chart Interface

The price chart is located in the center of the Quenta interface, below the market statistics panel. It displays candlestick price data with interactive features.

Candlestick Charts

Quenta uses candlestick charts to display price action. Each candle represents price movement over a specific time period.

Candle Components:

  • Body: Opening and closing price range

    • Green/White: Price closed higher (bullish)

    • Red/Black: Price closed lower (bearish)

  • Wicks/Shadows: Highest and lowest prices during the period

    • Top wick: Highest price reached

    • Bottom wick: Lowest price reached

Reading a Candle:

Time Intervals

You can view charts at different time intervals:

  • 1m - 1 minute candles (very short-term)

  • 5m - 5 minute candles (short-term)

  • 15m - 15 minute candles (medium-term)

  • 1h - 1 hour candles (medium-term)

  • 4h - 4 hour candles (long-term)

  • 1d - 1 day candles (very long-term)

Choosing the Right Interval:

  • Scalping: 1m, 5m

  • Day Trading: 15m, 1h

  • Swing Trading: 4h, 1d

  • Position Trading: 1d

Chart Features

Interactive Elements:

  • Hover: See exact price and time for any candle

  • Zoom: Scroll to zoom in/out (if supported)

  • Pan: Drag to move through time

  • Crosshair: Follows your cursor for precise readings

Display Information:

  • Price Scale: Right side shows price levels

  • Time Scale: Bottom shows time periods

  • Current Price: Often highlighted or marked

Quenta uses multiple data sources to ensure accurate and reliable price information:

For BTC and ETH

Primary Source: Binance

  • Global price reference

  • High liquidity and reliability

  • Standard for major cryptocurrencies

  • Updates frequently

Why Binance?

  • Most liquid markets for BTC/ETH

  • Global price discovery

  • Reliable data feed

  • Industry standard

For PulseChain Tokens

Primary Source: GeckoTerminal

  • Aggregates data from PulseChain DEXs

  • Includes PulseX pool data

  • Historical OHLCV data

  • Multiple timeframes available

Data Flow:

  • PLSX, HEX, INC, DAI, ATROPA, and other PulseChain tokens

Mark Price (All Assets)

Source: PulseX Pool Reserves

  • Real-time reserve ratios

  • Direct from on-chain pools

  • Used for position valuation

  • Updates with every block

Understanding Chart Data

Price Action Patterns

Uptrend:

  • Series of higher highs and higher lows

  • Green candles dominate

  • Good for long positions

Downtrend:

  • Series of lower highs and lower lows

  • Red candles dominate

  • Good for short positions

Consolidation:

  • Price moving sideways

  • Mixed candle colors

  • Waiting for breakout

Volume (When Available)

Some charts may show volume:

  • High Volume: Strong conviction in move

  • Low Volume: Weak move, may reverse

  • Volume Confirmation: Validates price moves

Chart Limitations

What Charts Don't Show:

  • Future prices (obviously)

  • Guaranteed support/resistance

  • Exact entry/exit points

  • Market sentiment directly

Use Charts For:

  • Historical price patterns

  • Trend identification

  • Support/resistance levels

  • Entry/exit timing

Market Statistics

Top Stats Panel

The market statistics panel appears at the top of the page (desktop) or is integrated into the market selector (mobile). It displays key market information.

Current Price

What it Shows:

  • Real-time market price in USDC

  • Updates automatically

  • Based on best available source

Price Sources (Priority Order):

  1. Last candle close (from GeckoTerminal or Binance)

  2. PulseX TWAP feed (if candles unavailable)

  3. PulseX pool mark price (fallback)

Display Format:

  • Usually 6 decimal places

  • Updates every few seconds

  • Color may indicate change direction

24-Hour Change

What it Shows:

  • Percentage change over last 24 hours

  • Calculated from price 24h ago vs now

Calculation:

Interpretation:

  • Green/Positive: Price increased

  • Red/Negative: Price decreased

  • Large %: High volatility

Example:

  • Price 24h ago: $30,000

  • Current price: $31,500

  • 24h Change: +5.00%

Funding Rates

The stats panel shows funding rates for both long and short positions.

Long Funding Rate

What it Shows:

  • Hourly funding rate for long positions

  • Positive = longs pay shorts

  • Negative = longs receive from shorts

Display:

  • Percentage per hour

  • Updates based on mark price vs TWAP

Short Funding Rate

What it Shows:

  • Hourly funding rate for short positions

  • Positive = shorts pay longs

  • Negative = shorts receive from longs

Display:

  • Percentage per hour

  • Usually opposite of long rate

Example Display:

This means longs pay 0.05% per hour, shorts receive 0.05% per hour.

Maximum Leverage

What it Shows:

  • Highest leverage available for this market

  • Usually up to 10x

  • Based on initial margin ratio

Calculation:

Example:

  • Initial Margin Ratio: 10% (0.1)

  • Max Leverage: 1 / 0.1 = 10x

Trading Fees

The stats panel breaks down trading fees:

Toll Ratio

What it Shows:

  • Protocol fee percentage

  • Charged on notional value

  • Typically 0.01% - 0.1%

Example:

  • Toll Ratio: 0.05%

  • On $10,000 position: $5.00 fee

Spread Ratio

What it Shows:

  • Insurance fund fee percentage

  • Charged on notional value

  • Typically 0.01% - 0.1%

Example:

  • Spread Ratio: 0.05%

  • On $10,000 position: $5.00 fee

Total Fees

What it Shows:

  • Combined toll + spread

  • Total fee percentage

  • What you'll pay on trades

Example:

  • Toll: 0.05%

  • Spread: 0.05%

  • Total: 0.10%

  • On $10,000 position: $10.00 total fees

Reading Market Conditions

Bullish Signals

Price Action:

  • Higher highs and higher lows

  • Green candles dominating

  • Breaking above resistance

Funding Rates:

  • Longs paying shorts (positive premium)

  • Indicates bullish sentiment

  • But costs money for longs

24h Change:

  • Positive percentage

  • Strong upward momentum

Bearish Signals

Price Action:

  • Lower highs and lower lows

  • Red candles dominating

  • Breaking below support

Funding Rates:

  • Shorts paying longs (negative premium)

  • Indicates bearish sentiment

  • But costs money for shorts

24h Change:

  • Negative percentage

  • Strong downward momentum

Neutral/Consolidation

Price Action:

  • Moving sideways

  • Mixed candle colors

  • No clear direction

Funding Rates:

  • Near zero

  • Balanced long/short ratio

Data Refresh Rates

Update Frequencies

Price Updates:

  • Chart candles: Every 30-60 seconds (depending on interval)

  • Current price: Every few seconds

  • Mark price: Every block (~2-3 seconds on PulseChain)

Statistics Updates:

  • Funding rates: Every few minutes

  • 24h change: Every hour (new candle)

  • Fees: Static (changes only when protocol updates)

Position Updates:

  • PnL: Every ~15 seconds

  • Margin ratio: Every ~15 seconds

  • Position data: Every ~15 seconds

Handling Data Delays

If Data Doesn't Update:

  1. Refresh the page

  2. Check your internet connection

  3. Check PulseChain RPC status

  4. Wait a moment (may be temporary delay)

If Charts Don't Load:

  1. Check GeckoTerminal/Binance API status

  2. Try a different time interval

  3. Refresh the page

  4. Clear browser cache if persistent

Chart Analysis Tips

Support and Resistance

Support:

  • Price level where buying pressure emerges

  • Often previous lows

  • Good entry for longs

Resistance:

  • Price level where selling pressure emerges

  • Often previous highs

  • Good entry for shorts

Trend Lines

Drawing Trend Lines:

  • Connect higher lows (uptrend)

  • Connect lower highs (downtrend)

  • More touches = stronger level

Moving Averages (Conceptual)

While Quenta may not show moving averages, you can mentally track:

  • Short-term average: Recent price action

  • Long-term average: Overall trend direction

Volume Analysis

When volume data is available:

  • High volume + price up: Strong bullish move

  • High volume + price down: Strong bearish move

  • Low volume: Weak move, may reverse

Best Practices

  1. Use Multiple Timeframes - Confirm trends across intervals

  2. Check Funding Rates - Factor into trading decisions

  3. Monitor 24h Change - Gauge market momentum

  4. Understand Data Sources - Know where prices come from
